Elixir of Life

Ganoderma lucidum is a fungus that is also called reishi mushroom. In China they call it Ling zhi. Being one of the most popular medicinal mushrooms in China, Japan and the United States.

It is greatly treasured in the East where it has been used for some 4,000 years in traditional Chinese medicine. The Elixir of Life is what they call it or it is also called the King of Herbs.

As a fungus it grows on logs or tree stumps. The body is shiny and hard. Colors include yellow to black. Wild Ganoderma is rare in Asia.

Why doesn't everyone take Ganoderma Lucidum?

Usually only emperors in China were able to use the Ling zhi, as it is so rare and hard to find. They called it the "Elixir of Life".

Then in 1972 the Japanese researchers were successful in cultivating the mushroom. These researchers showed in their work that the six colors they came up with were all the same species, therefore all have the same results in there herbal use as the "Elixir of Life".

The six colors are red, green, white, black, yellow and purple. Despite the researchers findings, some herbalists insist that certain colors are more potent or effective in healing certainconditions than others.

Ganoderma is not only being studied for its legend of longevity of life, it is being used in treatments of many diseases such as cancer ,HIV plus many more life threatening illnesses.
